Summary

With the many recent advances in resolution and speed of image capture, particularly with spiral and multi-slice modalities, CT imaging has become an increasingly powerful diagnostic tool for the pulmonologist.

This major text is designed with the investigating clinician in mind and presents, in a single volume, an overview of the technology and how it can be successfully used in different applications.

In the second part of the book, the authors follow a problem-based approach to describe how CT imaging can be used to investigate a range of presenting signs such as chest pain and breathlessness, and problems such as sepsis and infection and post-operative complications. The concluding section focuses on a range of specific disease entities, airway disease, cancer, immune disorders, etc., and discusses the imaging problems that each presents, and how they may be overcome.
