Summary
The Pocket Companion is derived from the existing products (full Stockley and electronic Alerts). It is structured alphabetically so each monograph pertains to a specific drug or drug group. Drug groups are preferred, but only where the name of the group is well recognised and used clinically.
The content consists of text derived from the Summary and Importance & Management sections used in the full Stockley. The monographs are split into two sections - the first summarising the published evidence and the second on how to manage the interaction in practice. Cross-references will be used throughout the book where necessary and internationally recognised terms are also included.
The interactions described are rated in line with the relevant electronic Alerts that are linked to the monograph. The plan is to attach to each interaction the same symbols used in the Alerts on MedicinesComplete.
Non-interactions, minor interactions lacking evidence, or those interactions that are only really relevant to specialised areas (such as the anaesthetics) will not be included.
