This study discusses the premise that pharmaceutical and biotech organizations that adopt EDC must be willing to make investments in both technology and business process change in order to facilitate successful programs. The most compelling business drivers for the adoption of EDC include efficiency of clinical trial programs and data quality improvements. These combine with other advantages to allow companies to conclude trials sooner with EDC and — in the big picture — to potentially bring drugs to market sooner.
