Summary
Headquartered in Getinge, Sweden, Getinge manufactures systems for infection control, operating theatres, surgical applications, patient hygiene, patient mobility and wound care for the healthcare, extended care and pharmaceutical industries.
The company mainly operates within three reportable segments; Infection Control, which generated 31.5% of the company's revenue in fiscal 2005; Extended Care which accounted for 25.1% of sales; and Medical Systems which generated 43% of revenue:-
Getinge claims its Infection Control business is the world's leading supplier of sterilisers and disinfectors for the hospital market and the life sciences industry.
The company's Extended Care business offers products for the acute and long-term care sectors that enable movement, lifting and hygiene care for people with restricted mobility. The business also supplies products to prevent and treat pressure sores and provides consulting services. The Extended Care unit claims to be the global market leader for hygiene systems and patient handling, as well as the world number four in wound care.
In its Medical Systems business, Getinge's products are organised within three divisions: Surgical Workplaces, Cardiopulmonary and Critical Care. Getinge believes its Surgical Workplaces division is the global market leader in surgical tables and lights, while its Critical Care division is claimed to be the market leader in ventilation and the Cardiopulmonary division believes it holds the number three market share for cardiopulmonary products.
